Me and my world – Weaving
Blended, Kirklees Recovery & Wellbeing College, Pathways, Nettleton Rd, Mirfield, WF14 9AQ
Recovery College Blended Learning Courses
In this 4 week course you will start a wellbeing journey, exploring yourself and how you engage with the world. You will explore this theme using the creative art of weaving. Using texture, colour, words, fabrics and various other materials to weave. You will use the Warp threads to represent aspects of your life – family, friends, work, the place you live, neighbours, the things you come into contact with. The Weft threads represents you, with the final woven piece visually demonstrating how the two are interlinked. This course allows you to use visual language to explore these ideas as they can be extremely difficult to explore in words alone.
We’ll explore how we interact with the world around us, how the combination of the threads form a strong (or weak) fabric. How different wefts can distort the warp and vice versa – symbolism for different aspects distorting our lives.
By the end of the course you will have produced a unique final woven piece.
This is a great starter course for the Wellbeing series where you will begin to explore the sense of self and where you fit in your worlds. If you wish to view the other courses we have in the Wellbeing series please click on the links below:
