Comforting Christmas Cushions

Life skills and interests

Discover the art of fabric printing with our Gel Printing workshop! During this three-week, hands-on course and with the help and support of our fab facilitator James, we’ll be guided through various techniques using gel printing blocks, which will enable us to create our own, individual fabric prints which will then be transformed into small, scented cushions.

We will experiment with different gel printing methods to create unique designs. We’ll start by transferring our prints from paper to fabric, and then move on to sewing and stuffing our printed fabric to make a small comforting cushion. To enhance the sensory experience, we can add “fragrant botanicals” to our cushions. Finally, we’ll have the opportunity to add creative details like buttons and silk strands for added texture.

The cushions have visual, scent and tactile functions and can be comforting in stressful times. They would also make a great gift.

All equipment is provided and no previous experience is necessary, making this workshop perfect for everyone, whether you’re a beginner or an experienced crafter.

Due to the popularity of this course and to ensure we are being fair to everyone, this course is only available to learners who have not previously undertaken a Recovery College Gel Printing course.
