Discover the Hero in You: Explore, Create, Animate

Life skills and interests
Join our lovely facilitators, Laura and Jess, for a relaxed, beginner-friendly creative course where together we’ll explore identity in a fun, supportive way. Over six weeks, we’ll design a simple character or alter-ego, tell a story through pictures, and learn the “six part story” method for coming up with ideas, to create a short stop-motion animation—no drawing skills required! We’ll use easy tools like templates, stencils, stickers and simple shapes, so even if you think you’re “not creative” or haven’t made anything in years, you’ll be able to jump in, enjoy yourself, and surprise yourself with what you can do.
Creative activities like these can help calm the mind, reduce stress, and boost confidence. Working with characters and stories can also inspire new ideas about our own identities and interests, build social connections, increase positive emotions and expand our imaginations, all while learning new skills and having fun! By the end of the course, we’ll have our own character, comic strip and mini animation to celebrate, and we’ll finish with a showcase and popcorn!
Please note this course will not have a break during May half term.
