Back by popular demand! This entertaining four-week course takes you back to the 20th century, focusing each week on three studios: Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, founded in 1924; Paramount Pictures, founded in 1912; and Universal Pictures, founded in 1912. Some of the stars we will see in great clips from their movies include Greta Garbo, Clark Gable, Marlene Dietrich, Gary Cooper, Boris Karloff, Laurel & Hardy, and the Marx Brothers. We will also see performances from other now-forgotten stars.
We will learn about the corporate power struggles going on behind the scenes at the various studios, with moguls such as Louis B. Mayer, Adolph Zukor, and Carl Laemmle, who were, in many cases, deposed from the studios they had founded.
As always, we welcome anyone wishing to learn about a fascinating era in the Golden Age of Hollywood. Popcorn & refreshments provided.

You are not referred to the Recovery College, you can simply enrol yourself, or on behalf of someone for any of our courses that may be of interest to you. Our courses are open to all adults and we welcome carers, supporters and professionals too.
