Keeping Connected and the Weekly Update

Welcome to our weekly update and the latest edition of Keeping Connected!
As we step into the longer days of summer, we’re also celebrating something very special—Volunteers’ Week! We want to take this opportunity to say a heartfelt thank you to our incredible volunteers (and friends of the College). Your kindness, time, and dedication are the heartbeat of the Recovery College. You inspire us every day, and we simply couldn’t do it without you.
This month’s edition of Keeping Connected includes stories that reflect the power of learning. You’ll hear from learners who’ve described their courses as “life-changing”, and we’re thrilled to share a moving reflection from one learner, Valerie, who’s been putting her newly learnt skills into practice. She’s even written a beautiful poem that we’re proud to feature—prepare to be inspired!
As always, we’re also shining a light on simple ways to get more active as well as the benefits to soaking up some sunshine (safely, of course!). So grab a brew, find a sunny spot, and enjoy this issue, it’s full of warmth, wisdom, and wonderful people – just like you.

Welland Walks are gentle and accessible walks for wellbeing, taking place monthly in Elland. An opportunity to come together with others and enjoy the wonderful benefits to your mood, sleep, and immune system that nature can offer. Each walk involves a short creative activity to explore connections to the local landscape. The walks involve a route along the canal for around an hour, and start and finish at Project Colt on Elland Bridge. Children are welcome but remain the responsibility of their parent / carer at all times.
Led by fantastic Volunteer Walk Leader, Debbie, these are informal and restorative walks to help clear the mind and warm the body.
