Spaces on courses – book now to avoid disappointment:- 

A Plan for Living Well – Calderdale and Kirklees Recovery College Spaces available- book now.

Do you feel like life’s taken the wheel? Our flagship course, A Plan for Living Well, will help you create your own wellness plan and get back in the driving seat of your life! Starting Tuesday 27 January at Folly Hall (1–4pm), this 8-week course explores practical tools for wellbeing, spotting early warning signs, and coping when life throws a curveball.

Places are limited, so book now  – and don’t forget to also book onto the Info Session on 13 January!

Doodle Books

Monday 12 January 2026 – 10am-12pm – Project Colt, Elland, Halifax – 6 weeks

Delivered by our Creative Practitioner Sarah O’Boyle, this six-week course invites participants to explore gentle doodling techniques and simple one-page book-making processes. You’ll have opportunities to connect with others, explore new skills, reflect on your creative process and share your creations if you wish. Doodle Books is designed to be calming, playful and inspiring, offering a weekly pocket of creativity to uplift your wellbeing and spark your imagination.

Yoga in Chairs

Tuesday 13 January 2026 – 10am – 11.30am –  Mirfield Community Centre – 6 weeks

Join our fabulous Peer Worker, Laura for this fully accessible course, where we’ll discover how yoga can prove to be a helpful wellbeing tool and ways to incorporate this practice into our everyday lives. Yoga can help calm the mind, improve sleep, increase concentration and could even relieve symptoms of Depression. All movements are done from the chair, with some standing options. Please wear loose comfortable clothing during sessions and you will be required to complete a health questionnaire before attending.

Living Well with ADHD

Monday 19 January 2026 –  1pm – 3.30pm –  Ravensleigh Resource Unit, Dewsbury – 6 weeks

Do you have a diagnosis of ADHD yet feel you don’t fully understand the condition? Do you want to meet others with ADHD and share your experiences? Do you want to live your best life, making your brain work better for you? If so, this is the course for you! Due to the popularity of this course and to ensure we are being fair to everyone, priority will be given to learners who have not undertaken this course previously.

Please note for the course starting in January 2026, there will be a one-week break for February half-term

Emotional Balance: Music & Mood

Wednesday 28 January 2026 at 2pm – 4pm – Online

Join us for this enlightening workshop where we delve into the transformative power of music. This session is designed to help us understand how music can be a magical tool used to enhance our sense of wellbeing. This session forms part of a series of Emotional Balance Workshops. You are welcome to attend all these or individual ones according to your needs or interests!

Creative Minds Festive Fun Day for adults with learning disabilities Thursday 18th Dec 2025

Time: 10.30am-2pm (please arrive for a check-in at 10.30am, pitch activities start at 11am)
Venue: The Zone, St Andrews Road, Huddersfield, HD1 6PT (Near Huddersfield Town football club stadium).

Please arrive for a check-in at 10.30am, pitch activities start at 11am.

It’s a free event but booking is essential.                                                          

Whats on:

  • The return of the “Festive bops and pops” (with Makaton) with our Creative Minds Creative practitioners
  • join the lovely NHS learning disabilities staff for some gentle fete games
  • multisports with Huddersfield Giants staff
  • There will be a stall with health and wellbeing information eg falls prevention, the benefits of physical activity, winter health, hospital passports, physical health checks
  • Photo booth
  • tabletop activities

There is a reasonably priced cafĂ© but you may want to bring a packed lunch and fluids. There is plenty of seating.  Please note that unfortunately the venue doesn’t have a changing place hoist toilet. Parking is free and plentiful, so minibuses/cars are welcome. Activities will take place on the two 3G pitches.

As some of the activities are physical and involve using equipment we provide a handy pre -exercise readiness questionnaire attached if you need it. We don’t need to see these assessments but please bring them with you on the day and inform staff/coaches of any particular needs or concerns that need their attention.

Men Walking and Talking – Festive Walk – Saturday 20th December

Meet at the Bandstand at Greenhead Park – meet time 10:15 am

Friends and family walk, all welcome (men, women, kids, dogs). 2 hour walk, steady pace, followed by coffee. Hosted by Men Walking and Talking- Huddersfield. https://www.menwalkingandtalking.co.uk

Christmas Day should be a special time for everyone!

This event is open to to anyone who would like to spend Christmas Day with Dewsbury Cares Community Group. Bookings are now being taken for the Christmas day community event – lunch, gifts from Santa, and entertainment.  Call 07398 735 530 or just call in at:

Free weekly walks taking place in your local area aimed at improving your wellbeing. Everyone can join in. No equipment needed, just some comfortable shoes.

Mindful Zentangle Taster session- 14th January

Wednesday 14th January from 10:30am – 12:30pm The 3 Strand CafĂ©, Longcauseway Church, Dewsbury WF13 1NH

Join us for a mindful drawing workshop led by Carolyn Hilton from Mindful Maker CIC. During this relaxing session, you’ll be guided to take ‘a line for a walk’ using a fine liner on plain paper, creating your very own unique piece of art. This FREE workshop is suitable for all abilities and offers the chance to learn a new skill while enjoying feelings of pride, accomplishment, focus and relaxation. Often described as ‘yoga for the brain’, Zentangle art can help reduce stress and anxiety, quieten the mind and support focus, concentration and better sleep.  Originally arranged for an earlier date, this has now been rescheduled.
