Understanding Self-Harm

Join us for this 2-hour workshop, delivered by Wakefield Recovery College, designed to help you feel more comfortable talking about self-harm. Through interactive activities we will consider the how’s and why’s surrounding this topic, as well as dispelling some of the myths associated with self-harm. We will also consider how you can best support someone who harms, and explore different coping strategies. People can harm themselves in more ways than many of us realise, and this course helps us understand different kinds of self-harming behaviours.
Co-produced by a Peer Support Worker who has a long history of self-harm, this workshop comes from a unique perspective. Although self-harm is still a taboo subject that makes many feel uncomfortable, it is more common than you may think, with many people going under the radar as they may not seek help.
This workshop incorporates discussion and activities in a safe and supportive environment.
