Welcome to our weekly update.
In this week’s update – why not pop down to Project Colt?
We’re delighted to now be fully settled into our welcoming new home in Elland, where there’s a real buzz around our courses, from Art and Crafts to Music, with spaces still available to get involved.
Alongside our own courses, Project Colt is home to a range of local community offers from partner organisations, supporting people with everything from food and practical help to creative and outdoor activities.
We’re also excited to highlight a brand-new course at the Outback Garden, Plot to Plate, a hands-on opportunity to grow, learn, and explore the journey from garden to table.
Take a look at our course offer below for upcoming sessions. We’d love to see you there!

Recovery and Wellbeing College at Project Colt
In 2024, we were delighted to find a new home for Calderdale Recovery College at Project Colt in Elland—a vibrant and welcoming space that has quickly become a true community hub. Project Colt does inspiring work to support people on their recovery journey from addiction, offering both practical help and a strong sense of belonging and hope.
Through partnerships with charities and local organisations, Project Colt provides a wide range of support, including beds for children, food for families, therapeutic gardening, and bike repair activities for people rebuilding their lives after substance dependency. A community food cart, stocked with supermarket donations, is also available for anyone who needs it.
At this fantastic venue, we’ve been running a variety of courses, including Art and Crafts, Gardening, Music, and our popular Plan for Living Well course. These sessions are led by our incredible Peer Workers, who bring lived experience of mental health challenges. Their empathy and understanding help create a warm, supportive environment—one where trying something new feels safe. As one learner shared, they felt “right at home.”
Learners tell us they love coming to Project Colt, not only for the courses but also for the wider experience. The affordable café serves delicious food and offers a great space for people to connect over lunch. There’s also a reasonably priced charity shop, artwork displays from local artists, and even a TARDIS to discover—adding to the unique and welcoming atmosphere.
Now that we’re settled into our new base, we’re excited to continue growing Calderdale Recovery College and to offer even more opportunities for people to learn, connect, and thrive.
