Welcome to our weekly update.

In this week’s update

It’s hard to believe, but we’re now just over a month away from the end of the academic year!

We’ve got lots of exciting courses planned for next term, and these will be going live over the next week — so keep an eye out.

This week also marks Loneliness Awareness Week, a great reminder of how important connection and community are to our wellbeing. Don’t miss out on the Great Get Together this weekend.  With that in mind, we’re especially pleased to be hosting an informal Cuppa & Connect event to celebrate the end of term. It’s a lovely opportunity to meet staff, volunteers, and fellow learners in a relaxed setting, enjoy some refreshments, and spend time together. You’ll be able to ask questions, share your experiences, and let us know what’s worked well — and what we can keep improving.

As always, take a look below for courses with spaces still available, along with some fantastic opportunities from local community organisations

At a recent staff training day we set aside time for something a little different – and it proved to be one of the most memorable parts of the day. Guided by our wonderful creative practitioner, Sara, we were invited into an hour of mindful doodling.

Rather than focusing on producing something “perfect,” Sara gently encouraged us to slow down and immerse ourselves in the process. Shapes flowed into one another, colours were chosen intuitively, and gradually the room grew quiet as we each became absorbed in that simple, calming act of creation. It was a powerful reminder of how stepping away from expectations can open the door to creativity, presence, and wellbeing.

We often talk about the importance of lifelong learning and creativity, and moments like this remind us that we are all learners. Whether staff, volunteers, or participants, we share the same opportunity to pause, explore, and discover new ways of being.

The session left many of us feeling lighter, more focused, and inspired. It also sparked curiosity about how creative, mindful practices can support wellbeing in everyday life. Sara’s courses and our whole creative offer provide just that: a welcoming space to explore creativity without pressure, and to experience the benefits of slowing down.

We’re proud that we don’t just talk about these values—we practise them. And sometimes, all it takes is a pen, a splash of colour, and a willingness to begin. Why not see if one of our creative courses could inspire you too?
