Weekly Update

Calderdale & Kirklees Recovery College

October 29, 2026

Welcome to our weekly update.

Featured article: Looking Back and Looking Ahead

As we are coming to the end of the half-term break, we want to thank everyone who has attended a course or activity with the Recovery College.

Reflecting on recent feedback, we’re delighted that 100% of respondents rated our service as good or very good, and would recommend us to friends and family. Some clear themes emerged, with learners describing the College as a safe, welcoming and non-judgemental space where they feel encouraged to learn, connect with others and try new things. Many mentioned gaining confidence, improving their wellbeing, and learning practical tools they can use in everyday life. Others highlighted the kindness, understanding and lived experience of our facilitators, who help create an environment where people feel valued, respected and able to be themselves.

As we move towards winter, these themes feel especially important. The colder, darker months can sometimes affect our mood, motivation and sense of connection. Taking time for ourselves, learning new skills, meeting with others and developing healthy wellbeing habits can help us navigate the season ahead. As we begin this second half of term, we have plenty to look forward to, including courses supporting skills development, creativity, and emotional wellbeing. Highlights include:

A Plan for Living Well – develop your own personalised wellness plan and explore practical ways to maintain wellbeing, manage difficult times and stay in control of your recovery journey.
Moving into Mindfulness Outdoors – explore mindfulness and gentle movement while enjoying the benefits of being outdoors.
Yarn for Calm – enjoy relaxing wool crafts, helping you slow down, focus on simple repeated movements and step away from everyday pressures.
So whether you’re looking to develop new skills, meet like-minded people or simply take some time for yourself, please do explore the upcoming timetable: https://www.calderdalekirkleesrc.nhs.uk/courses-and-enrolment/view-all/
