Weekly Update

Welcome to our weekly update
As we approach the end of the academic year, we’re reflecting on what has been an incredible journey. With new courses launched in fresh venues across Calderdale and Kirklees, we’re thrilled to now have over 1,400 learners enrolled and an average of 730 bookings each month—a fantastic achievement!
While August may be a quieter month for courses, we’re full steam ahead preparing for an exciting year ahead, with new developments and improvements coming to our College. Want to hear more about what we’ve accomplished, the lives we’ve helped transform, and what’s coming next? Join us at our Celebration Event on 3rd September, where we’ll be showcasing learner work, sharing personal stories, and much more. We truly believe that when we come together, we grow stronger—and build hope for the future.
We’re also inviting learners and volunteers to join our brand-new Course Editorial Group—a direct result of feedback from our recent Cuppa and Connect events. If you’re passionate about shaping the future of our College, we’d love to hear from you. Details are below.
And as always, read on for updates on available courses, community offers, and upcoming events.
Help Shape the Future of Our Recovery College – Join the Editorial Group!
Would you like to help make the College and our courses the best they can be and make a positive difference to the lives of others? We’re inviting learners and volunteers to join our Editorial Group – a key part of how we ensure our courses stay useful, welcoming and inspiring.
We are looking for a total of 4 learners and volunteers from a mix of backgrounds across Calderdale and Kirklees to bring diverse perspectives and experiences to the group. As a member of the Editorial Group, you’ll:
- Share your thoughts and ideas to help shape our courses
- Commit to just 4 meetings a year, with some reading and feedback in between
- Learn new skills and gain experience in teamwork and course development
- Build connections with others who care about mental health and education
- Help make our college better for everyone
You don’t need to be an expert – just bring your lived experience, your ideas, and your enthusiasm. We welcome anyone with different skills and backgrounds who has been part of the College for at least 12 months.
There will be training available to support you in this role, and expenses are covered. We’re looking for 4 new members – so if this sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you!
Interested?
Please contact Matt, our Principal, for an informal chat and to find out more about the application process.
